Mt. Vernon, IL – The Illinois Oil and Gas Association (IOGA) announced today that it will be offering a bulk electricity purchasing program to its members.  The program will be administered by Southern Illinois based, Affordable Gas & Electric (AGE).

IOGA is comprised of nearly 450 members consisting of oil and gas producers, land owners and royalty owners and others who may be directly or indirectly affected by or interested in oil and gas development and production in Illinois.

One IOGA member has already noticed an impact on his bottom line. J. Nelson Wood of Wood Energy and current IOGA Board Member said “I put 28 wells with Affordable Gas & Electric this spring and I’ll save $30,000 on my electric bills over the 24 month contract. Oil wells, pumps, offices and other electricity accounts are all eligible under the program and could offer savings of over 20% off Ameren and ComEd default electricity rates.

“Offering this program to our members allows us to continue to look out for the interest of our membership” said Brad Richards, Executive Vice President, IOGA.  “Electricity is an expense for every business and ours is no exception.  Working with Affordable Gas & Electric allows us to offer savings to our members enhances their bottom line.”

Rob Wielt, Sr. Energy Consultant for AGE, expressed his excitement about working with the IOGA membership. “I have had the pleasure of working with several IOGA members individually. We expect to negotiate 20%-30% savings on electricity supply for all IOGA members who choose to participate in this program.”

IOGA members who wish to participate need only to complete a short form to enroll their accounts. The deadline to register is August 30, 2013. During the week of September 2, members who chose to participate will be sent agreements with the lower negotiated electricity rate. The new lower rates will begin with September/October meter read dates.
